Suno unveils v5.5 music model with voice, personalisation tools
AI music company Suno has released version 5.5 of its music-generation model, introducing new tools focused on voice integration and personalised music creation.
Suno CEO and co-founder Mikey Shulman.
The company described the update as “our best and most expressive model yet”, adding that the latest features are designed to improve how users create and customise music. Suno said the update “doesn’t just help create music, but fully reflects the person making it.”
Among the key additions is a feature called Voices, available to Pro and Premier subscribers. It allows users to upload or record their own singing voice, which is then verified through a process requiring the user to repeat a randomly generated phrase. According to the company, the voices remain private and can only be used by the individual who uploaded them, although broader sharing options may be introduced in future.
The update also includes two personalisation tools. The first, Custom models, enables users to train the system using their own creations to generate music aligned with their style. Subscribers can currently create up to three customised models.
The second feature, My Taste, is available to all users and functions as a recommendation system. It analyses listening preferences, including genres and moods, to tailor music outputs more closely to individual tastes.
The release comes amid increasing competition in the AI music sector. Google recently introduced its own system, Lyria 3 Pro, through its Google DeepMind division. The platform is aimed at providing more detailed instrumental rendering and advanced controls for music creators.
The near-simultaneous launches highlight growing efforts by technology companies to develop tools that support AI-assisted music production and expand creative capabilities for users.
