Suno appoints ex-Spotify and Patreon executive Sam Berger
AI music company Suno has appointed music industry executive Sam Berger to expand its artist partnerships operations, as the company continues to strengthen its ties with artists and rights holders.
Sam Berger.
Berger joins Suno following senior roles at Patreon and Spotify, and brings experience across artist management, platform strategy and live music formats. In his new position, he will be responsible for developing partnerships with artists, managers and creative teams, with a focus on the use of artificial intelligence in music creation.
Berger previously led music strategy at Patreon and founded the music team at Moment House, a livestreaming platform that worked with artists including Justin Bieber, Tame Impala and Anderson .Paak. During his tenure, Moment House sold more than two million tickets across 180 countries before being acquired by Patreon. Earlier in his career, Berger was part of Spotify’s global artist and label partnerships team and managed artists such as Charlie Puth, Portugal. The Man and Miguel.
“I’ve known Sam for more than 15 years and he is without a doubt one of the most respected artists and label partners in the industry,” Suno chief music officer Paul Sinclair said. “Berger’s appointment reflects the company’s emphasis on industry relationships. We’re thrilled he is joining our growing team as we continue to invest in deepening our relationships with the music industry.”
Berger said trust and collaboration would be central to his work at Suno. “We’re at a critical point in time where the future of music is being actively shaped and establishing trust with our industry partners is more important than ever,” he said. “Suno is a company that is building alongside artists with real intention, and empowering creatives with the best tools and technology available.”
Berger joins a music team led by Sinclair that includes CJ Smith, whose previous roles span Snap, Quibi, BeReal, 88rising and Encore. Other team members include Athena Yasaman, formerly of Twitch and Spotify; Leanna Bremond, a former music supervisor at Peloton; Kenneth Herman, previously marketing and partnerships director at Splice; A&R consultant Elena Louvis, who has worked with labels including Atlantic Records; and Brianny Aybar, formerly an A&R executive at Motown Records, Capitol Records and Sony Music.
The appointment follows a series of moves by Suno aimed at increasing its engagement with the music industry. The company recently announced a partnership with Warner Music Group, signalling a broader effort to position itself within ongoing debates about the role of artificial intelligence in music production and distribution.
