Open call: African Art Music Composition Virtual Masterclass Series
Applications are now open for the African Art Music Composition Virtual Masterclass Series, a nine-week online programme that will run from 21 September to 16 November 2025.
- Dr Genevieve Allotey-Pappoe will feature in the masterclass.
The series will explore the depth and diversity of Pan-African Art Music through weekly sessions led by nine composers and scholars.
The line-up includes Dr Charles Lwanga (Uganda), Dr Genevieve Allotey-Pappoe (Ghana), Kwaku Boakye-Frempong (Ghana), Dr Justinian Tamusuza (Uganda), Njane Mugambi (Kenya), Sibusiso Njeza (South Africa), Camila Cortina Bello (Cuba), Dr Ayodamope Oluranti (Nigeria) and Grace Oforka (Nigeria).
The programme is open to:
- Composers of all levels
- Musicologists
- Researchers
- Performers
- Students in music or related fields
- Professionals working in music publishing or cultural studies.
What to expect
- Deep dives into research, methodology, and artistry.
- Explore how to bring theoretical knowledge into composition and performance.
- Share ideas, network, and collaborate with fellow musicians, scholars, and composers.
Sessions will take place every Sunday from 2pm to 4pm (WAT) via Zoom.
