South African start-up wins Music-Tech talent call
South African music technology start-up Sync Discovery has been named the winner of the Music-Tech talent call, launched in May by Paradise Worldwide, the Fraunhofer Institute, MusicTech Germany and the Africa Rising Music Conference (ARMC).

As part of the recognition, founder Nkosiphambili Molapisi will travel to Berlin in September to present the company’s work at the Music Frontiers Conference, which runs from 4 to 5 September 2025.
The Music-Tech talent call was created to identify and support promising innovations in the South African music technology space, offering mentorship and opportunities to showcase ideas to international industry leaders, investors and collaborators.
Sync Discovery focuses on improving discoverability and monetisation for artists. The platform distributes music to radio stations, provides real-time airplay tracking and royalty monitoring, and aims to improve rights management through accurate metadata and transparency.
“We’re honoured to be selected as a winner of the Music-Tech call,” Molapisi said. “syncdiscovery.io is addressing one of the most urgent challenges in music today: discoverability and monetisation for artists and their teams.”
The Music Frontiers Conference will bring together international music and technology professionals to discuss the future of the industry.
Commenting on the award, ARMC founder and managing director of Paradise Worldwide (Africa), Sarah Jane Nicholson said: “With the Music-Tech Talent call, ARMC is reinforcing its mission to create pathways for emerging talent on a global scale. By connecting a music tech innovator from Johannesburg with the international ecosystem and providing access to high-level mentorship, we are enabling the growth of sustainable businesses and future leaders.”
