Gambia: T Smallz, Baddibunka, Sophia release new singles
Three Gambian stars have released new songs.
Afromanding singer Baddibunka has released 'Mbuka Noise'. The song, which features Assan Njie, was produced by Shyboy Production on 29 July. The song, said Baddibunka, "advises young people to work hard and live in a decent life." A video for the song, a single off an unreleased album, will be released soon.
“I want my music to cross the boarders that is the reason of this collaboration with Assan Njie, and I am determine to take afro-manding to another level,” he said. He added that he intends to record with with Malian singers Sidike Jobarteh and Oumie Sankare.
Baddibunka admitted that his absence from the music scene is because he is an independent artist, but he has now received support from people ready to push his music. “I believe that I can keep Afromanding alive as our identity and culture,” he said.
Dancehall act Sophia has also released a new single. 'Nye Kanu Laye' was recorded by Ras Askia of Hardcore Production and depicts a love story. The song is the first single from her debut album Determination which will be released on 2 December. “This is the taste of the album," Sophia said. "We are doing all the promotional strateges to reach to the wider audience."
T Smallz has released 'Kaya'. The song features three Nigerian artists Skales, Harrysong and the multi-talented Jez Blenda (Yung Alpha) and is intended to garner attention from outside of the Gambia. "Straight Outta Gambia we present this extremely talented artiste T Smallz who is out with new single title 'Kaya', his first single to be release to the Nigerian music scene," says a statement from T Smallz's management."
