Call for applications: Digital media arts training in Malawi
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Malawi is calling on creatives to apply for the Digital Media Arts Accelerator Training programme in Lilongwe. The training will be held in phases with 10 participants per group from 10 August to 21 December.
The accelerator programme will train participants in the following topics:
- Video
- Visual literacy
- Photo editing
- Basic graphic design
- Illustration
- Animation
The training is free of charge and will be held physically and virtually. Classes will meet for three hours once per week and participants will be awarded with certificates in their respective disciplines.
Participants must:
- Have enthusiasm and motivation to succeed even when faced with obstacles.
- Have excellent work ethic and ability to be on time and meet deadlines.
- Have good command of the English language.
- Have basic computer or technological skills. (i.e. Participants must be able to use the internet, send an email and save files).
- Reside in Lilongwe (no transport will be provided).
It’s not mandatory for participants to have:
- A degree/diploma in media, journalism, ICT or advanced secondary school leaving certificate.
- A perfect artist portfolio. An interest in the arts is enough to get started.
- Advanced computer or technological skills (basic computer literacy skills are required).
Interested creatives should apply via email at recruitment.malawi@unfpa.org before 10 July.
The following documents should be sent together with the application:
- Motivation letter (maximum of one-and-a-half pages).
- Participants should send a biography explaining who they are and why they would like to participate in the training. Creatives should also include their contact details such as phone number and email address as well as which days and times they are able to meet. Note: UNFPA Malawi is leaning towards meeting every Thursday from 9am to 12pm, but the times are subject to change if a different day or time suits more people.
- A short video (less than two minutes) of the participant talking about their artwork and why they think they are a good fit for this training.
