Call for applications: Driving the Human project in Germany
Germany-based international scientific and artistic collaboration project Driving the Human is accepting proposals for projects that combine science, technology and arts in a transdisciplinary and collaborative approach.
Driving the Human is a three-year initiative, which was launched last year by Forecast, an international mentorship programme that transcends disciplines and geographical locations to connect cultural practitioners with renowned mentors.
This call is targeted at creative minds from around the world, including artists, designers, scientists and agents.
"There are no restrictions or requirements regarding disciplines or genres and no overarching themes," Forecast said. "However, we strongly advise applicants to reflect on how their proposal aligns with notions of sustainable and collective futures, eco-social renewal, as well as ideas of transdisciplinarity and collaboration. Similarly, we invite you to reflect on the public nature of the Driving the Human events, which require that you convey your proposal to an audience."
Selected applicants will receive a production budget of up to €2 000 (about $2 400) to complete the project, which will be presented in Berlin in October. Forecast will cover the cost of travel, accommodation and provide an artist participation fee of €2 000.
Following the presentation in October, seven participants will get the chance to edit their proposals based on the feedback they receive from the jury and board of experts. The revised version will then be presented in Munich in December. Afterwards, each of the seven projects will continue to be developed with the support and know-how of Driving the Human’s partner institutions, with external collaboration whenever it would makes sense. The final prototypes will be presented to the public in Berlin in December 2022.
The seven participants will receive a production fee of €15 000. The funds will be made available in instalments based on the stages of the project’s development and its budgetary requirements.
The seven final prototypes can materialise in the following ways:
- Performances.
- Walk-in room installations.
- Designed objects.
- Architectural mock-ups .
- Interactive games.
- Video works.
