Young Ricky

YoungRicky, also known as Edson Esteira, is a singer, rapper, and songwriter born on March 2, 1999, in Tete, Mozambique.
His favorite music styles include RnB/Soul, Trapsoul, trap music, Neo Soul, and ghetto zouk.

He began his musical career in 2016 as a member of a teenage group called DarkShine, remaining part of the group until mid-2017, when he decided to take a break from music to pursue another dream—becoming a football player.

In 2019, he returned to music as a member of another group called CapsLock, which he is still part of today. With the group, they performed many shows and released two projects.

In 2020, he decided to focus on his solo career, releasing his first track on January 13. On February 20, he joined the GTC Label, and on March 2, he released his first single as a label member. On September 1, 2020—his mother’s birthday—he released his first EP, titled Late Night Overthinking Stories, which portrayed some of his internal struggles, self-esteem issues, and of course, romantic experiences.

At the end of 2020, he released what became his most successful international hit, Querias × Precisas, which drew global attention to his artistic and creative side.

In 2021, he released a new project titled #VibesOnly, and dropped the music video for his track Lua, further highlighting his artistic essence.

In 2022, he released his latest project titled “Toxicity”, which later had his first solo live session in Maputo.

In 2025, he had his first sold-out show at 16Neto, where he announced his upcoming project titled “Zouk & Soul.”
