Bio
Tumisho Kgwete is a multifaceted artist with a passion for music and the performing arts. Born and raised in Limpopo, South Africa, she began her formal music training at PEPPS Polokwane Preparatory School and College, where she excelled in music, achieving grade 6 music theory and grade 8 music practicals through IEB ABRSM accreditation. As a scholarship recipient, she became the school's music ambassador and assistant musical director for the PEPPS Music Extravaganza 2016.
Tumisho furthered her education at Tshwane University of Technology Arts Campus, earning a university diploma in Jazz Music within the Performing Arts. She also explored voice-over work and vocal coaching, transitioning from classical music to jazz and popular music while acquiring piano basics through the jazz curriculum at TUT.
A seasoned and skilled vocalist, Tumisho has shared stages with notable artists such as Africa Mkhize, Zenzile Makeba-Lee, and Nthabiseng Motsepe at the Standard Bank National Jazz Festival. Her performances span live jazz, popular music, and theatre productions, including Marikana the musical choir and the South African State Theatre Youth Choir. As a member of the acapella group Akhaphela Quintet, she has hosted shows at the National State Theatre as part of the VAVASATI annual festival lineup.
Tumisho's experience extends to backing vocals for Mam Abigail Kubeka in her tribute performance honouring Miriam Makeba under the Fezeka Motsatse Foundation. She has also worked with the South African Department of Sports, Arts, and Culture on youth empowerment events and collaborated on various projects, including voice-over work for Tshwane University of Technology and TV ads for CellC.
Internationally, Tumisho has performed in the European entertainment space, showcasing her talents in 5-star hotels across Greece. Her performances have included jazz live bands, theatre productions like The Lion King and Mama Mia, and tribute concerts to the late Tina Turner and European music favourites.
