Call for applications: Music residency in the US
Art Omi, a not-for-profit arts centre in Hudson, New York state, invites musicians and composers from around the globe to apply for the 2020 Omi International Music Residency Program.
Art Omi will select 12 to 15 musicians and composers from around the globe to come together for two and a half weeks to create productions in dance, theatre, circus and performance.
“Music encourages its participants to share ideas, perform each other’s works and write music for one another while exploring their musical vision and broadening their artistic and cultural horizons,” Art Omi says.
Participants will also be required to create informal concerts where the public will be invited “to experience the creative process, collaboration and development of the residents.”
The application deadline is 2 January 2020 and the winners will be notified in April. The residency will run between 13 and 20 August 2020.
Requirements
Interested participants are expected to fill the online application form and submit the following:
- MP3 audio sample with a description (max 4 mins).
- Work sample up to three excerpts created in the last five years.
- Biography (max 100 words).
- A brief application statement.
What will the Art Omi provide?
Selected participants will be required to cover for their travel expenses to and from the centre.
Art Omi will provide the following:
- Accommodation
- Meals
- A fully equipped kitchen
- On-site laundry facilities
- A library
- A basic computer (Internet nd printing access only, no software use) blankets, towels, and bedding
Applicants should note that:
- Art Omi will only consider applications from individual applicants
- Individuals members of performing ensembles may apply simultaneously but will be evaluated as individual musicians. It is highly unlikely that members of ensembles will be invited to attend during the same residency.
