Call for applications: Wits School of Arts 2020 postgraduate bursaries
The Wits School of Arts in South Africa (WSOA) is calling on postgraduate students studying towards an arts degree to apply for a bursary.
The Arts Research Africa Postgraduate Bursary is courtesy of the Andrew W Mellon Foundation in the US and will be awarded by the WSOA. It is intended for students who wish to study in any arts discipline such as music and drama.
The bursaries will be awarded as follows:
- Honours degrees: Two bursaries for 2020 – R90 000 each (full time).
- Master’s degrees: Four bursaries for 2020 – R100 000 each (full time).
- Doctoral degree: One bursary for 2020 – R130 000 (full time).
The bursary is also available for students who are studying part-time. In the case of successful part-time applicants, the bursary will be split over two years.
For part-time candidates the bursaries will thus be:
- Honours degrees: R45 000 + R45 000 each (part time).
- Master’s degrees: R50 000 + R50 000 each (part time).
- Doctoral degree: R65 000 + R65 000 (part time).
Key information
- The bursary will be made for postgraduate study at the WSOA in 2020.
- Candidates must have been accepted for their course of study in order to qualify for the bursary.
How to apply
- Interested students can apply here.
- Once registered on the system, proceed to ‘programmes'.
- For the section that says, ‘motivation of why you should be granted the bursary’, upload your motivation. You will be required to fill in the text box on the form.
- When uploading the required supporting documents, hit the ‘mark as complete’ button for each uploaded document.
