Bio

Pop Dogg is a Malawian multi-award winning Afro Hip-Hop solo artist based in Dublin, Ireland. The songwriter-cum-producer is a founder, CEO and president of his label, Malawian Ninjaz Records. Popularly known to his fans as "Gunpowder” for his explosive lyrics and heightening punch lines, the artist is bilingual thus tagging him as one of the fewest and gifted artist to rap, sing and write in two completely different languages. The hip-hop whizz has performed in various places namely Waterford, Belfast, Birmingham, Manchester, Scotland, South Africa and Zambia. Apart from making an international footprint, the rapper has raised curtains for American rapper The Game, 2Face and Ruggedman of Nigeria, Awilo Longomba of Congo. The artist gained momentum with his 2008 debut album ‘Spit Real’, that featured songs such as ‘Knock Out, Death Is A Killer’ ft Gina, ‘Daddy Loves You’ ft Riva 9, ‘I Wish You Were Here’ and many other hit songs. Pop Dogg has worked with various artists on his ‘Spit Real’ album chief among them Dominant 1, Third Eye and Lady Kaspur aka Naseelah in Lilongwe. This prompted him to produce a hit single with a video called ‘How We Do’.

In 2011, Pop Dogg won two music awards as Best Male Artist and Best Song Collaboration-Ireland African Music Awards. Apart from music, the artist has passion for the underprivileged children which saw him raise funds for destitute and orphaned children in Malawi thereby setting strides for other artists to emulate. In 2012, Pop Dogg was nominated for the Best Male Artist and Best Rap Artist Awards and his ‘Be My Lady’ music video for the Best Video, Best Collaboration and Best Director [Ireland African Music Awards-2012]. In 20013, the artist also won the African Leadership/Power-list Award, an award designed for the recognition of excellent performance of individual and organization that have contributed immensely to the advancement of the developmental sector of Ireland & African continent. In that same year, Pop Dogg released ‘Like That’ music video and he was named “Malawi's Hottest Rapper” by the Malawi Heat Magazine.
