Waje

Bio

Real name Aituaje Iruobe, was born in Akure, Nigeria, but later moved to Benin City, where she grew up.

Her talents were discovered at a very early age, when she sang at a reception in Benin for the late Arch-Bishop Idahosa, prompting an offer of a primary and secondary school scholarship. She studied Social Work at the University of Nigeria, where honed her vocal skills in concerts and talent shows.

Her breakthrough came when she was featured on backing vocals on the P-Square mega-hit single "Do me". This was her springboard and further exposure came, when she took part in a talent show "Advanced warning" on MTV Base, in which she came second.

She went on to perform at some of Africa's biggest stages and concerts, and even opening for International acts like Wyclef Jean and Kerry Hilson. She released her eagerly awaited eponymously named debut album "W.A.J.E" at the end of 2013.
