Nyimbo zaKwatu launches Women’s Denderedzwa dialogue series in Harare
Nyimbo zaKwatu, a Zimbabwe-based creative platform focused on music and cultural storytelling, will launch a new dialogue series titled Women’s Denderedzwa in Harare, Zimbabwe on 13 May.
Nyimbo zaKwatu founder and musician Mary Anibal.
The inaugural session will take place at the Alliance Française in Harare at 8.30 a.m and will bring together women from different sectors of the creative industry for discussions centred on artificial intelligence in the creative economy, as well as broader themes of lived experience, resilience and success.
Organisers describe the initiative as an extension of the platform’s existing work, shifting from showcasing creative output to facilitating structured conversations on issues affecting women in the creative sector.
The series is structured around two main discussion areas: The Power of Being: Stories, Struggles and Success and Women Harnessing Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Creative Sector.
Participants scheduled for the discussions include financial literacy expert Theodora Madzinga Chinembiri, women’s safety advocate Charlene Chiriseri, broadcaster Becky K and creative director Tariro ‘neGitare’ Chaniwa. A second panel will feature legal expert Vivian Matsa, musician and Nyimbo zaKwatu founder and musician Mary Anibal, visual artist Nothando Chiwanga and creative economy practitioner Anesu Chikumba. The session will be moderated by creative consultant and voice-over artist Rutendo Denise Mutsamwira.
“The vision of Women’s Denderedzwa is inspired by the timeless power of women gathering in a circle which is a sacred and intentional space that has, across generations, held stories, wisdom, and collective strength,” Anibal said. “At its heart, Women’s Denderedzwa recognises storytelling as a powerful tool for transformation. It is a space where lived experiences are valued as knowledge, where challenges are met with collective wisdom and where new ways of leading, creating and living can be imagined.”
While the dialogue series focuses on women’s experiences in the creative sector, organisers say participation is open to all interested in discussions on creativity and technology. The initiative has also opened opportunities for sponsorship and partnerships, including brand placement, segment naming rights and product inclusion in event materials.
Nyimbo zaKwatu describes itself as a platform dedicated to amplifying African stories through music, visual storytelling and cultural dialogue.
