Rand Show 2026: Kelvin Momo, Morda and Nkosazana Daughter light up Joburg showcase
Johannesburg’s Rand Show 2026 returned with a strong musical focus, drawing large crowds for headline performances from Kelvin Momo, Morda and Nkosazana Daughter. The annual event once again blended live music with industry showcases, reinforcing its position on the city’s cultural calendar.

The programme spanned amapiano, Afro-fusion, jazz and live band performances, reflecting the breadth of South Africa’s contemporary music scene. Kelvin Momo delivered a smooth, soulful amapiano set that kept audiences on the dancefloor, while Morda brought high-tempo energy and a commanding stage presence. Nkosazana Daughter offered a more emotive performance, anchored by powerful vocals and controlled delivery.
Live acts added further variety across the stages. Mr Keys and Soweto’s Finest delivered polished Afro-fusion and pop-influenced sets, while the South African Navy Band, part of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), presented a mix of jazz, classical and Afro-pop that appealed to a broad audience.
Technical execution across performances was largely consistent, with strong sound delivery and coordinated lighting enhancing the overall experience.
Beyond the music programme, the event also featured industry-focused activations. ROCKA FM, a Johannesburg-based online radio station, hosted a live broadcast demonstration offering insight into radio production and operations. Station manager Bondo Ntuli reflected on ongoing shifts within South African radio, pointing to increasing fragmentation as stations target niche audiences.
Community broadcaster Newtown Radio also participated, highlighting youth development and media training initiatives. Technician Wilson Machete emphasised the importance of expanding opportunities for emerging talent within the sector.
While the music programme remained the main drawcard, some industry observers noted limited participation from broader music business stakeholders, which may have reduced opportunities for deeper audience engagement with the commercial side of the industry.
Despite this, the performances were widely regarded as the highlight of the weekend. The contrast between Kelvin Momo’s melodic soundscapes, Morda’s energetic delivery and Nkosazana Daughter’s vocal intensity underscored the diversity of South Africa’s current music landscape.
With strong attendance across the weekend, Rand Show 2026 reaffirmed its role as a key entertainment fixture in Johannesburg, combining live performance with glimpses into the wider creative and broadcasting ecosystem.
