Nigeria: Gospel artists Labisi, Bola Are share worship single Better Than Gold
Nigerian gospel singer Labisi has released a new single, ‘Better Than Gold’, featuring veteran gospel musician Bola Are, popularly known as Mummy Bola Are.
Bola Are and Labisi.
The track highlights the spiritual value of a life centred on faith, emphasising that God’s presence is “worth far more than silver or gold.”
The collaboration unites two generations of gospel artists, with Labisi bringing contemporary expression and Bola Are contributing her decades of experience in ministry. The single combines warm instrumentation, harmonies, and rich gospel textures to create a worshipful experience aimed at both personal reflection and communal praise.
Speaking on the release, Labisi said the song serves as “a powerful reminder of what truly matters,” underscoring that spiritual fulfilment outweighs material wealth.
Bola Are, a pioneer of Yoruba gospel music with a career spanning over 50 years and more than 70 albums, has mentored generations of gospel musicians and is recognised for her spiritual authority and prayer-focused worship.
Labisi, who hails from Ibadan and is signed to EeZee Conceptz, first gained recognition after winning the 2023 Gospel Groove Talent Quest. She describes her musical style as “culturalistic and local,” drawing from her indigenous roots to shape her sound.
‘Better Than Gold’ is now available on all major streaming platforms.
