Apple Music, TikTok introduce new feature for in-app full song playback
Apple Music and TikTok have announced a new music discovery feature that will allow users to listen to full songs from within the TikTok app.

The feature, called “Play Full Song”, enables Apple Music subscribers to listen to complete tracks they discover on TikTok without leaving the platform. Users who encounter a song on their For You Page or Sound Detail Page can tap a dedicated button that opens an Apple Music player inside the app.
The integration is designed to allow listeners to move directly from discovering a track on TikTok to hearing the full version on Apple Music. From the player, subscribers can continue listening to recommended tracks and save songs to their libraries or playlists on the streaming service.
The feature was developed using Apple’s MusicKit technology. Full-length playback takes place through Apple Music, meaning streams are counted within the Apple Music platform.
According to the companies, the launch builds on TikTok’s earlier “Add to Music App” tool, which allows users to save songs discovered on TikTok to music streaming platforms such as Apple Music. The new feature aims to extend that process by enabling immediate full-song playback.
“Tapping into the music you love should feel effortless,” said Ole Obermann of Apple Music. “With Play Full Song, Apple Music subscribers can move easily from discovering a track on TikTok to listening to it in full instantly, without breaking the flow. This integration not only makes it easier for fans to discover, listen to, and engage with the artists they love, but also creates a powerful new pathway for artists – turning moments of discovery into deeper connection and sustained engagement in one simple, seamless experience.”
Alongside the playback feature, the two companies also announced a new tool called “Listening Party”, which will allow artists to host real-time listening sessions with fans. The feature will enable users to listen to music simultaneously, interact with each other and engage directly with artists during the sessions.
Tracy Gardner, global head of music business development at TikTok, said the initiative aims to strengthen connections between artists and audiences.
“TikTok is where music discovery and culture move at the speed of the community,” Gardner said. “Thanks to Apple Music, Play Full Song gives fans a seamless way to go from discovery to full-length listening, and Listening Party provides a shared place to experience music together in real time. It’s all about bringing artists and fans closer, and turning shared moments into lasting connections.”
Both features are expected to roll out globally in the coming weeks.
