Shazam music identification feature introduced on ChatGPT
Music identification service Shazam has been integrated into ChatGPT, allowing users to identify songs directly within the chatbot without switching to another application.
The new functionality extends Shazam’s technology to ChatGPT’s user base.
The feature enables users to type prompts such as “Shazam, what’s playing?” or “Shazam, what is this song?” while using ChatGPT. The tool then analyses the audio and provides the song title along with artwork and a short preview.
According to the announcement, the integration uses Shazam’s existing music recognition technology to detect tracks in seconds. Once the Shazam function is activated in ChatGPT, the service can identify songs and display related information directly within the chat interface.
The feature does not require users to have the Shazam mobile application installed on their device to identify music. However, those who have the Shazam app installed will be able to save songs discovered through ChatGPT directly to their Shazam library.
The new functionality extends Shazam’s technology to ChatGPT’s user base, enabling music discovery without leaving the chatbot interface.
The Shazam app for ChatGPT began rolling out globally on Tuesday. It is available on iOS, Android, and the web in regions where ChatGPT is accessible.
