Bio
Roach Killa (born in 1983 in Sebha, Libya) is a Punjabi-Canadian singer, rapper and producer known for blending dancehall and reggae with Punjabi music. Born to Pakistani parents, he moved to Canada at the age of nine and grew up in Scarborough, Toronto, where he was heavily influenced by Jamaican reggae culture.
He began his career in the early 2000s with a strong reggae foundation before transitioning into urban Punjabi music. His EP Roachstafarian sold more than 10 000 units across North America, establishing him as a distinctive voice in the diaspora music scene. His debut album The Revolution (2009) reached No. 6 on the iTunes World Charts, while the single “Yaara Dildara” climbed to No. 1 on the BBC Asian Network charts.
Roach Killa is celebrated for his versatile sound, seamlessly merging traditional Punjabi elements with contemporary production and Caribbean influences. Over the years, he has collaborated with international artists including Apache Indian and Spragga Benz.
In 2016, he successfully entered Bollywood with the hit “Girl I Need You”, featured in Baaghi, which garnered more than 50 million views. He later contributed to the soundtrack of Judwaa 2 (2017), further cementing his presence in the Indian film industry.
His stage name, Roach Killa, originated in childhood and reflects his ability to “kill” or master instrumentals with his signature style.
