SA: Kgethang Konese returns with fifth edition of Easter worship event

The Rise, now a recognised Easter tradition, aims to unite communities through worship and reflection. The Midrand edition will feature Mmuso Worship, while the Seshego event will include performances by Manana Ramongae, Mapula Monyepao, and Katleho Seobi. The gatherings are expected to highlight traditional gospel music and emphasise themes of hope, renewal, and spiritual reflection.

The upcoming events follow a live recording by Konese on 31 January 2026, marking another milestone in his musical career. Organisers say The Rise seeks to provide audiences with an opportunity to reflect on the significance of Easter, offering moments of communal worship and personal renewal.

Born in Lesotho and raised in South Africa, Konese grew up in Jouberton, Klerksdorp, attending Mokolokotoane Primary School and completing his secondary education at Tshedimosetso Secondary School. Over the years, he has developed a career that blends music, ministry, and entrepreneurship.

Konese is the Group Chief Executive Officer of a Johannesburg-based company involved in events management, project management, learnership programmes, and labour activation initiatives. The company has reportedly created employment for more than 300 full-time staff and offered over 45,000 opportunities nationally.

Known for his deep, distinctive voice, Konese has built a following across generations and internationally. In addition to his music career, he has played a prominent role in promoting cultural events in Klerksdorp and the City of Matlosana, including The Rise and the Matlosana Mega Fest, initiatives credited with boosting community engagement and regional visibility.

Konese’s approach to his work, both as a musician and entrepreneur, is guided by a focus on faith, hard work, and providing platforms that create opportunities and foster community development.
