Nasty C releases Head Up 2.0 visuals featuring Soweto Gospel Choir
South African rapper Nasty C has released the music video for ‘Head Up 2.0’, a new version of his track created in collaboration with the Soweto Gospel Choir. The video marks his first major release of the year and brings together hip hop and choral music in a joint visual and musical project.

‘Head Up 2.0’ revisits a song that Nasty C says developed over several years, shaped by personal reflection and periods of uncertainty. The updated version places greater emphasis on themes of resilience, faith and self-belief, with the choir’s contribution forming a central part of the composition and visual narrative.
The Soweto Gospel Choir said the collaboration reflected a shared artistic purpose. “HEAD UP was a harmonious fusion of rhythm and rhyme, where the soulful chants of the Soweto Gospel Choir blended beautifully with the dynamic flow of one of the greatest world class rappers to come out of South Africa,” the choir said. “It was a celebration of diversity and unity, creating a powerful, meaningful and uplifting song that resonated with the hearts of all who performed and listened.”
Nasty C described the song as a personal source of motivation. “Head Up is a very special song to me. It is a motivational song, one that picks me up whenever I hit a low,” he said. “I made it during a time where I needed reminding that my journey is my own, that my vision matters, and that my time will come when it is meant to.”
The music video adopts a restrained visual approach, focusing on performance and atmosphere rather than spectacle. The inclusion of the Soweto Gospel Choir situates the track within a broader African spiritual and musical tradition, while maintaining Nasty C’s contemporary hip hop identity.
The release follows a period in which Nasty C consolidated his position locally and internationally, and ‘Head Up 2.0’ signals a reflective but forward-looking phase in his career. The music video is now available on digital platforms.
