Divine Yala

Divine Yala (now Divine Yala-Ungudi) is a contemporary Christian gospel singer and songwriter. Born in Harderwijk, Netherlands, she is currently based in Toronto, Canada. 

Early Life and Education

Heritage: Originally from Harderwijk, Noord-Holland, Netherlands.

Education: She attended École secondaire catholique Ste-Famille and later studied at York University in Toronto.

Musical Roots: Her earliest musical memories involve attending Makoma concerts in Toronto, a group she grew up listening to and admiring. 

Musical Career

Yala's music is characterized by its spiritual themes and collaborations with other gospel artists.

Albums: No Other God (2019) and Halleluyah (2022).

Notable Singles: "Bolamu" (2024), "Pasola Lola" (feat. Syntyche Kasweka, 2024), and "Belela" (feat. Grady Lelo, 2025).

Collaborations: She frequently works with Deborah Yala, who is featured on tracks like "Bolamu, Pt. 2" and "Oza Nzambe".

Marriage: On August 4, 2025, she announced her marriage to Gracy M. Ungudi. The couple's relationship began in 2017 through social media and evolved from a long-distance friendship into a partnership celebrated in the Congolese Christian community.
