SudanArchives, born NatalieMissanjoEdwards, is an American singer, songwriter, violinist, and producer known for her genre-defying blend of R&B, electronic, funk, and traditional African music. Hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio, she began playing the violin at a young age, eventually combining her classical training with experimental production and West African-inspired rhythms to create a sound that is uniquely her own.
Her music is characterized by intricate violin loops, hypnotic beats, and soulful vocals, often drawing on Sudanese, Ethiopian, and other African musical traditions while pushing boundaries of contemporary electronic and alternative R&B. Sudan Archives first gained attention with her self-released EPs, including Sudan Archives (2017) and Sink (2018), which showcased her innovative approach to melody, rhythm, and song structure.
