Open call: 2025 Petrichor International Music Competition
The organisers of the Petrichor International Music Competition are seeking submissions for the fifth edition of its competition. The call is open to performers, composers, conductors and ensembles of all ages and nationalities.
The submission deadline is 22 December.
There are no repertoire restrictions. Applicants may submit any piece, including original compositions, contemporary works, traditional music, arrangements or improvisations. Singers may submit repertoire in any language. Submissions are reviewed individually by the Petrichor Artistic Panel without consideration of age, nationality, gender or musical style.
Categories and prizes
Performance categories (video submission):
- Solo Performers Under 16. Grand Prize $500
- Solo Performers Under 21. Grand Prize $1000
- Solo Performers Over 21. Grand Prize $1 500
- Small Ensembles (fewer than nine performers). Grand Prize $1 500
- Large Ensembles, Orchestras and Choirs (more than nine performers). Grand Prize $2 000
Composition categories (audio, video or score submission):
- Composers Under 21. Grand Prize $1000
- Composers Over 21. Grand Prize $1 500
- Electronic or Multidisciplinary Works. Grand Prize $1000
- Film, Video Game and Animation Music. Grand Prize $1000
- Arrangements. Grand Prize $1000
- Improvisation. Grand Prize $1000
Recording category:
- Best Album. Grand Prize $2 000
Finalists in each category will receive official certificates. Participants may submit multiple entries, and each submission is evaluated independently. The first submission fee is $45, with discounted fees for additional entries. Fee waivers may be granted in specific circumstances.
About the competition
The 2025 edition features 12 categories covering performance, composition, recording and multidisciplinary work. More than $60 000 in cash prizes and promotional packages will be awarded across the categories. Selected musicians will also receive the opportunity to release their work through Petrichor Records.
