Open call: Création Africa programme for SA, Malawi and Lesotho
Applications are now open for the second edition of Création Africa South Africa, Lesotho and Malawi, an initiative aimed at supporting and scaling cultural and creative entrepreneurs across the three countries. The programme is supported by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of France and the French Institute of South Africa (IFAS).
The application deadline is 7 December.
Création Africa 2 is designed to strengthen entrepreneurship within the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) through a structured combination of mentorship, incubation, training, funding and networking, with a focus on entrepreneurs who are ready to expand their businesses through targeted support and investment.
Sectors covered under the Cultural and Creative Industries include:
- Music: Composition, production, performance and distribution.
- Visual and Performing Arts: Painting, sculpture, photography, theatre, dance, circus and live performances.
- Film and Television: Production, direction, distribution and related audio-visual services.
- Design and Craft: Graphic and industrial design, and artisanal crafts.
- Fashion: Apparel, accessories and related industries.
- Animation, Gaming and Interactive Media: Animation, video games, software and immersive experiences.
- Digital Media: Digital content creation and social media production.
- Creative and Cultural Promotion Spaces: Festivals, events, creative hubs and community spaces.
- Publishing: Books, magazines, newspapers and digital publications.
- Architecture: Architectural design, urban planning and related services.
- Cultural Heritage: Museums, archives, preservation, restoration and heritage management.
Who can apply
The call is open to entrepreneurs operating within the Cultural and Creative Industries in South Africa, Lesotho and Malawi.
Applicants must:
- Be over 18 years of age.
- Be a resident of South Africa, Lesotho or Malawi.
- Own and manage their business.
- Operate an existing, registered business in one of the three countries.
- Be available and committed for the full duration of the programme, including taking time away from business obligations if required.
Key dates
- Presentation by shortlisted applicants to the jury: 19 to 23 January 2026.
- Announcement of selected 50 entrepreneurs: 26 to 29 January 2026.
- Intensive mentorship programme: 2 February to 20 March 2026.
- Pitch sessions: End of March 2026.
- Incubation programme: 6 April to 9 October 2026.
- Immersion programme: October to November 2026.
