Ghanaian rapper Gonaboy featured on Apple Music’s Rap Life Radio
Apple Music’s Rap Life Radio, hosted by global editorial head of hip hop and R&B Ebro Darden, will feature Ghanaian rapper Gonaboy in its latest episode. Darden, joined by Africa Now Radio host Nandi Madida, will discuss Gonaboy’s new extended play (EP) MUNIRU.
Gonaboy.
Gonaboy rose to prominence in 2022 with his single Abom, which propelled him from Ghana’s underground trap scene to mainstream recognition. The track earned him endorsements from artists such as Black Sherif and expanded his audience through themes centred on resilience and self-determination.
MUNIRU marks the artist’s first solo project since Trap Saviors (2024), a collaborative EP with ACE ILLY and Kojo Trilla. The new release presents a more reflective approach, with emotionally charged lyrics and genre-blending production.
Speaking to Apple Music, Gonaboy described the project as a personal journey of growth and self-awareness. “These records give me the feeling of growth through discomfort,” he said. “They reflect where I’ve been, where I am, and where I’m headed. This EP is about understanding yourself in the midst of chaos, about breaking the box you were kept in.”
The episode will also highlight Ghanaian rapper Kweku Smoke, whose new album Walk With Me reflects his continued influence on Ghana’s evolving trap scene. Additional features include South African artists DJ Sliqe, Blxckie, KindlyNxsh, and issi, whose track Shake introduces Bangerville 2, a six-track EP characterised by high-energy hip hop production.
Rap Life Radio is available on Apple Music worldwide.
