TikTok launches artist insights platform in South Africa
TikTok has launched its TikTok for Artists platform in South Africa, giving musicians, their teams and record labels access to data and tools to better understand how their music performs on the app. The platform was first introduced globally earlier this year and has also been rolled out in Nigeria.

The new service provides artists with daily updates and detailed analytics through a dashboard. Features include insights on song performance, post engagement, audience demographics and follower breakdowns by age, gender and language. It also provides step-by-step guides to TikTok tools and resources to support long-term music careers.
One of the main features is the Pre-Release tool, which allows artists to create campaigns for upcoming albums and enable fans to pre-save music on platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.
“TikTok has always been a key space for music discovery and promotion across Africa,” TikTok head of music partnerships for the UK, Ireland and Sub-Saharan Africa Toyin Mustapha said. “With the launch of TikTok for Artists in South Africa we’re giving artists and their teams access to insights that can help them engage their fans in more meaningful ways and grow their careers globally. This platform is about putting powerful, transparent data in the hands of creators so they can make smarter decisions and connect with the global TikTok community.”
TikTok says local music continues to drive strong engagement. In the past three months, South African tracks such as ‘Isaka (6am)’ by Ciza, ‘Jazzworx’ and ‘Thukuthela’, and ‘Ngishutheni’ by Goon Flavour, Master KG and Eemoh, have each generated millions of video creations both locally and internationally. Another track, ‘Bengicela’ by Mawhoo, ‘GL_Ceejay’ and ‘Thukuthela’, has been used in more than 600 000 videos in South Africa alone.
The company said TikTok for Artists will allow performers to track such usage more effectively and use the insights to promote their music beyond the platform. The tool is available to all certified TikTok Artist Accounts, with options to grant access to managers and labels.
With its launch in South Africa and Nigeria, TikTok has underlined its investment in Africa’s music industry by providing artists with resources aimed at strengthening their visibility and helping them build sustainable international careers.
