Advancing Audio Masterclass returns to Nairobi in October
The Advancing Audio Masterclass will return for its second edition in Nairobi, Kenya, from 14 to 17 October 2025. The four-day training event will bring together international and local sound engineers to mentor and train young and emerging professionals in the audio industry.

The inaugural edition in 2023 attracted more than 200 participants from across the country. According to organisers, the masterclass received strong feedback from attendees, who praised the practical training and exposure to international expertise. One participant, Michael Njau, said: “I learned so much about teamwork and collaboration. I also gained great interest in audio systems engineering and RF coordination.”
This year’s programme will take place at the International Christian Centre (ICC) on Mombasa Road in Nairobi. The first three days will feature panel discussions, practical training on specialised equipment, and one-on-one mentorship sessions. The event will conclude with a concert showcase on the final day, where participants will put their new skills into practice under the guidance of mentors.
Speakers and mentors confirmed for the 2025 edition include Jason “Redz” Reynolds, a touring engineer for Kirk Franklin, Maverick City and the Marley Brothers; Veer Dhaniram, a sound engineer and trainer who has worked with the Marley Brothers and trained more than 1 000 engineers globally; Brandon Blackwell, a live mix engineer for artists such as Blackpink, Camila Cabello, Mariah Carey and Alicia Keys; and Byron Belle, a sound engineer and production trainer with more than 20 years of international experience.
The project is led by Byron Belle, with support from Mbarathi Karuga, Joy “Archie”, Jane Bossia, Nipul Shah and Olivia Ambani.
Organisers say the masterclass aims to raise professionalism in the audio industry and provide a platform for skills development in East Africa. They have also hosted a series of smaller online and in-person sessions in the lead-up to the main event, giving participants access to international mentors.
The projected budget for the 2025 event is $49 668, covering flights, accommodation, venue hire, equipment, catering and other logistics. The organisers describe the masterclass as a ticketed event supported by partners and sponsors.
