Selected residents will gain access to Pioneer Works’ shared facilities and join a dynamic community. Their work may also feed into broader public programming, including Second Sundays, a monthly series of Pioneer Works’ open studios, talks, and performances.
Upon completing the programme, residents become part of Pioneer Works’ alumni network, which opens the door to future opportunities such as teaching roles, partnerships, and public events.
Residency support
The residency programme is supported in part by the New York State Council on the Arts, with the backing of the Governor of New York and the New York State Legislature.
How to apply
The application period is open until 31 August and interested applicants should submit their applications here.
About the programme
Residencies play a central role in Pioneer Works’ programmes, even before the organisation was formally established. Each September, residents are selected through an open call process. A jury made up of field experts and former residents reviews all applications. The organisers are looking for individuals who work outside conventional frameworks and would benefit from Pioneer Works’ environment, which is shaped by each new group of residents.
