Malawi: UMP Festival unveils first wave of talent for 2025 edition
The UMP Festival 2025 has revealed its first line-up of artists, promising a vibrant and diverse celebration of African music, culture, and creativity. This year’s edition is set to run from 21 to 27 October in the picturesque lakeside town of Cape Maclear, Malawi.

The initial talent drop features an impressive mix of artists from Malawi, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, and Cameroon. Music lovers can expect performances from acclaimed names such as Maskal, Skeffa Chimoto, Lulu, Ethel Kamwendo-Banda, Ma Blacks, Wikise, Tsar Leo, Gabilo Mtu, Siphesihle, Fivara, Skiezy, Sapho, Kifimbo, Sxge, Advocate 1, Riba, Raven Ducness, Shanariha, and Marsi.
Malawi’s top DJs will also be on hand to electrify the stage with high-energy sets. These include DJ Flame, DJ Mighty Virus, DJ West, DJ Bad Up Skillz, DJ Boo, DJ Clame, and DJ Harstag.
Hosting duties will be shared by a dynamic team led by Ugandan media personality Zari The Boss Lady, alongside Malawian talents Mimi, Annie Matumbi, Junior Cee, and Cynthia Zonde Zulu.
In addition to music, the festival will feature a wide range of creative expressions, including spoken word, comedy, and dance. Confirmed acts include poets and comedians Refilwe Ntopa, Jane Selenje, Martin, Mr Rodriguez, and Ray. Dance crews from the 7 Arts Dance Workshop and the Burundi-based Amaholo Drummers will also take part in the cultural showcase.
