
Deadline extended: Concerts SA Mobility Fund 2025
The deadline for the 2025 edition of Concerts SA Mobility Fund has been extended from 8 June to 15 June.
- The new deadline for applications is 15 June.
The call is designed for South African artists or artists in South Africa with a valid work permit to apply for the 2025 Concerts SA funding.
The opportunity is designed for artists who want to tour in the Southern African region between 15 July 2025 and 15 October 2025.
Music industry professionals from all genres may apply for support of reasonable costs up to a maximum of R45 000 (about $2 500) related to the tour, including:
- Artist fees
- Technical support fees (audio, visual etc)
- Equipment rental (not purchase of equipment)
- Transport costs
- Accommodation
- Venue costs
- Artist & crew catering/per diems
- Rehearsal costs (venue, artist fees, technical)
Grant/subsidy requirements:
- Tours must take place within the Project Implementation Period: 15 July 2025 to 15 October 2025.
- Applicants must be a South African citizen, or resident in South Africa with a valid work permit.
- Applicants must have an up-to-date listing with a detailed portfolio on www.musicinafrica.net.
- Preference will be given to women and youth applicants.
Preference will be given to applications that include:
- SA tours: a minimum of two live music concerts which must take place in at least two provinces. This could include the province you reside in and another province.
OR
- SADC tours: at least one live music concert in a SADC* country other than South Africa. Participation in either a music workshop/discussion or an additional live performance will be advantageous.
*(SADC countries: Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, eSwatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, United Republic of Tanzania, Reunion Island, Zambia and Zimbabwe).
- The FEC subsidy is about the creation of jobs and work, therefore applicants will be required to outline the number of paid work opportunities that their project will create. These can include musicians, technical teams, production support, etc.
- Applicants will be required to provide evidence of communication with the venues where they will perform, and include as evidence:
- A supporting letter from the venue.
- South African venues’ licensing compliance with SAMRO. (If the venue is not licensed, inform the venue to apply for a licence at csi@samro.org.za).
- Successful applicants will be required to commit to the stringent reporting requirements of the project’s stakeholders.
- Concerts SA – FEC Revenue Sharing Model – Ticket Sales
Recipients of Concerts SA subsidies are required to contribute a portion of their ticket sales and related income from FEC-supported live music events back into the project. This contribution forms part of our shared commitment to the long-term sustainability and impact of the FEC initiative.
Revenue contribution requirements
- Recipients may retain up to 90% of net ticket sales revenue.
- A recommended contribution of 10% of ticket sales income should be allocated to the FEC project as a sustainability contribution.
- These funds must be paid into the designated Concerts SA account during the final reporting phase of the project.
- This revenue-sharing model is aligned with the strategic shift of the FEC from traditional development funding to a focus on job creation, economic development, and the catalytic support of live music ecosystems.
Please note that preference will be given to:
- Applications from SAMRO members.
- Applicants who will be presenting original music works.
- Applicants who coincide their tours with outreach efforts to public spaces like schools, hospitals, old age homes, airports, taxi ranks, prisons, etc.
