DJ Dadaman

Gift Mashaba, known professionally as DJ Dadaman, is a trailblazing DJ and producer from Atteridgeville, Pretoria. With a career spanning over two decades, he has cemented his status as a hitmaker, collaborator, and driving force in South Africa's underground and mainstream dance scenes.

Early Beginnings & The Birth of a Hitmaker

Dadaman's passion for music production began in 2003 when he met Mapentane, a fellow artist. Despite financial struggles, he secretly produced music on his family's PC, eventually saving enough to buy his own in 2005. His early collaborations with Bacardi pioneers earned him the nickname "MabaShghubu" (The Hitmaker).

Rise of Team Bacardi & Team Skorokoro

Dadaman's career took off when he met JD Monate, forming Team Bacardi with Mapentane and JD Monate. They dominated the 2010s with hits like "Fororo" and "Wele Wele." In 2015, he formed Team Skorokoro, releasing anthems like "Seven ke Skelem" and "Phusha Skorokoro."

Expanding His Sound

Dadaman has worked with notable artists, blending Bacardi with hip-hop and kwaito. He produced hits for Vusi Ma R5 and collaborated with Khuli Chana, Thebe, and Xelimpilo.

Global Recognition & 2023 Breakthrough

In 2023, Dadaman performed at Uganda's Nyege Nyege Festival, collaborated with Mellow & Sleazy, and remixed his classic "Xighubu" into "Christmas Present." He also caught DJ Maphorisa's attention, leading to further collaborations.

2024 & Beyond

DJ Dadaman continues to push boundaries, working with Pabi Cooper, Thebuu, Focalistic, and DJ Maphorisa. As a true king of his craft, he remains dedicated to elevating Bacardi music and shaping the future of South African dance culture.
