Bio

Lennox T is a talented guitarist, singer, songwriter, and composer with a rich musical journey that spans decades. Born and raised in the small town of Lady Frere in the Eastern Cape, Lennox T’s passion for music propelled him to Johannesburg in the 1980s, where he began working with numerous bands to refine his craft.

In 1991, Lennox T relocated to Cape Town to escape the civil unrest in Johannesburg. There, he collaborated with producer Barney Rettle and recorded at Atkinson Audio & Visual, marking the start of a prolific period in his career. By 1994, Lennox T expanded his creative horizons by joining Zibonele Community Radio, where he contributed as a broadcaster and cultural advocate for a decade.

In 1998, Lennox T founded his own band, Lennox T and the Stepchildren. The band became a staple in Cape Town’s vibrant music scene, sharing stages with celebrated South African artists such as Sylvia Mdunyelwa, Ringo Madlingozi, Rebecca Malope, and Bonginkosi Dlamini (Zola 7). His performances also brought him to international audiences, collaborating with renowned artists like Ellen Dargen, Richie Havens, Gerald Rudschuch, and Ilukan, a percussionist for Santana.

In 2002, Lennox T’s international acclaim was solidified when he performed at South African Airways’ 50th Anniversary celebration in Frankfurt, Germany.
