Call for auditions: Woodlands Dairy Showtime Awards revue cast
Young singers, dancers, actors and comedians are invited to audition for next year’s 29th Woodlands Dairy Showtime Awards young talent development revue, Those Were The Days at Charlo Primary School Hall in Port Elizabeth, South Africa on 28 and 29 July.
The organisers are seeking a young cast that would feature in the revue. Singers and actors will be auditioned on Saturday starting at 2:30pm, followed by another audition that will include specialist dancers (tap dancers should bring tap shoes) for the movement and dance try outs on Sunday at 2:30pm.
Requirements:
- Multi-cultural core cast of 12 performers (eight females and four males).
- Participants should be aged between 14 (turning 15 before 27 January) to 22 years, with many singers, actors and dancers included.
- A dance troupe of six girls, who would be required to be part of an ensemble that would sing during the show.
“Rehearsals will start in daytime in early October, concurrent with the week of the school holidays and continue over all subsequent Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons, until 15 and 16 December and then cease for resumption on 2 January next year,” event organiser Bob Eveleigh said. “As with all its predecessors, this revue has been devised and written by me as executive producer, after I created the Showtime concept 28 years ago while arts editor of the Evening and Weekend Post.”
“Joining me again will be the same production team that handled the successful Let the Good Times Roll: director/choreographer Siobhan Day and musical and vocal director Wayne Hughes, with Marlene Pieterse as creative consultant as well as Lance Bright and Rocky Mann as technical consultants.”
