Open call: Digital Music Education Seminar in Ghana
Applications are currently ongoing for the forthcoming edition of the Digital Music Education (DME) Seminar slated for 23 March in Kintampo, Ghana.
The brainchild of the Jonathan Nii Laryea-led Jonilar.net online portal, the programme, now in its second year, seeks to bolster the knowledge and skills of local musicians, producers, and other stakeholders in the industry.
Themes to be explored at the event include digital marketing of music in the new era, analysing the current state of the industry, balancing the demands of music with mental wellness, the role of networking among creatives, preparing talents for the mainstream and the role of the media in empowering creatives.
Aside from Laryea, other confirmed speakers for the event include health professional and MC Yaw Ampofo Adomako, as well as broadcasters Sarkodie Gideon Osei, and Bretuoba Kwabena.
Laryea, who doubles as Ghana country director and brand ambassador for Uganda-based aggregator Omziki, stressed that participating creatives will “have the opportunity to pose relevant questions about the music industry and establish meaningful connections with industry insiders.”
Last year, the inaugural DME Seminar, whose resource persons included Buem Constituency MP Kofi Iddie Adams, urged attendees to prioritise education as the foundation of their careers. Speaking at the event, Laryea also advocated for a one-year tax break for media and influencers promoting arts, music and tourism to encourage and support the creative and cultural sectors in Ghana.
