Open call: A to JazZ Fest showcases in Bulgaria

African diaspora artists living in Europe are eligible to apply. The call is intended for emerging artists in world music who are looking to grow their music careers and international audience. Successful artists will perform in front of programme directors and curators of the best world music festivals and concert venues in Europe. Artists will also gain knowledge and expand their professional contacts.

Each accepted application will be evaluated by a five-member international jury. The organisers are looking for 12 participants and the selected artists will be announced on 11 March.

Participation includes live performances, educational module, conference, speed meetings with the delegates and networking sessions on 4 and 5 July.

Eligible participants are legal residents (regardless of their origin and country of birth worldwide) of one of the eligible countries: EU countries and Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Georgia, Armenia, Tunisia and Ukraine.

Emerging European artist is one who fulfils at least five of the below conditions: 

• Maximum three albums released.
• The release of the applicant artist/band’s first album is after 15 January 2019.
• No more than 20 000 followers on either of their social media channels.
• The average age of band members does not exceed 35 years.
• Had at least one concert in a professional setting.
• The band did not go on an international tour of 10 gigs.
• The band does not have a contract with a non-national record label.
• The band has an up-to-date web presence (website, social media).

Twelve artists/bands will be selected for the showcase.

Selected artists/bands for the showcase will receive:

• A budget of €500 (contract and invoice required).
• Hotel accommodation for three nights (3 to 5 July 2024) in double/triple rooms.
• Full access to the festival area, conference, networking sessions and delegates database.
• Video recording of the showcase performance.
