Call for entries: 2018 Ghana Music Awards
The organisers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) are now accepting submissions ahead of the 19th edition of the annual event.
Last year’s edition was deemed historic by many as gospel act Joe Mettle won Artist of the Year, beating off competition from such popular acts as Stonebwoy and Sarkodie.
Joe Mettle, who is also a working pastor, expressed his happiness after the ceremony, saying on social media: "This is for God Almighty, this is for Gospel Music. This is for Christianity and for every Gospel Musician; for the pacesetters who have worked hard in the past and my brothers and sisters in Gospel music fraternity. This is for you! Thank you so much for the support."
Fancy Gadam and Ebony have already been named in the local news as potential winners of the Artist of the Year category. Fancy Gadam hosted a successful concert in 2017, while Ebony was arguably the most popular act in the industry, receiving as much attention for her music as for her image.
In what might be a 2018 VGMA forecast, in December Ebony capped a phenomenal year for a relatively new artist, as she was named Artist of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year at the 2017 BASS Awards.
To apply for consideration at the 2018 VGMAs, interested artists may obtain nomination forms from the offices of organisers Charterhouse Productions Limited at B824/10 Feo Eyeo Street, Industrial Area Accra.
They can also download the form from the official website. Only work released between 1 January 2017 and 31 December 2017 will be considered.
The deadline for submissions is 31 January 2018.
