Call for entries: Animated film fest in Czech Republic
The International Festival of Animated Films (ANIFILM) is calling on filmmakers, animators and computer-game developers around the world to submit music videos, animated films and abstract videos, among others, for the 2021 edition of the event in Liberec, Czech Republic, from 4 to 9 May 2021.
To be part of the festival, interested individuals can submit their films here for free before 31 December.
The competition programme consists of the following categories:
- International Competition of Music Videos: Competition of commissioned works as well as fan-made videos for concrete songs. Author of the video must have approval for using the musical piece.
- International Competition of Abstract and Non-narrative Animation: Unconfined audio-visual works using the principles of animation in the widest extent possible.
- International Competition of Feature Films: For films longer than 60 minutes. The jury gives awards to film for children and film for grown-ups.
- International Competition of Short Films: This competition section presents several blocks of animated short films made by professionals (out of school). A short film is no longer than 59 minutes.
- International Competition of Student Films: The films can be submitted by schools or students themselves.
- International Competition of VR Films: Films designed for virtual reality – animated 360° videos.
- International Competition of Computer Games: The jury gives awards for game for children and visual art.
Prizes
- Best Music Video – €500 (about $600).
- Best Abstract and Non-narrative Animation – €1 000.
- Best Feature Film for Grown-Ups – €1 000 EUR.
- Best Feature Film for Children – €1 000.
- Best Short Film – €1 000.
- Best Student Film – €1 000.
- Best VR Film – €500.

The festival’s accompanying programme supports education in the field of animated film. With its wide and varied programme, ANIFILM is changing the stereotypical perception of animated film as a mere entertainment for children.”
