Stonebwoy gives out free hand sanitisers in Ghana
Dancehall artist Stonebwoy distributed free hand sanitisers to the residents of Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region.
The distribution was made on 27 March and meant to assist in containing the spread of the coronavirus. The West African country has registered 152 confirmed cases and five deaths since the first detection of the disease on March 12.
“We’re giving out free sanitisers at the BHIM shop located at Ashaiman as our way of contributing to stopping the spread of COVID-19,” Stonebwoy told BeatWaves.
The artist also urged the public to show care and empathy to the most vulnerable in society and support the government's efforts to fight the spread of the virus by adhering to the rules and regulations.
He said the current global pandemic was a chance for people to get along regardless of their race, colour, ethnicity or political affiliation.
Stonebwoy's philanthropy comes days after he won the Best African Reggae/Dancehall Entertainer Award at the 38th International Reggae and World Music Awards. The awards took place in Kingston, Jamaica on 21 March.
He was nominated in the Best African Reggae/Dancehall Entertainer category alongside Ghana's Shatta Wale and Epixode as well as Nigeria's Patoranking and Burna Boy.
