Xkriba
Bio
Xkriba is the stage name of Azael Stélio Julião Maxlhaieie, a Mozambican rapper, poet, and social activist born in the province of Gaza. He grew up in a context marked by inequality, where he found in art a tool for liberation, resistance, and awareness. Through hip-hop, Xkriba built a path that merges social intervention, spirituality, and the affirmation of African identity.
His work is known for its dense, critical, and philosophical poetic language, addressing themes such as social justice, mental health, decolonization, ancestry, and the struggle for freedom. In 2021, he released the album África Liberta-te through the independent label Dan Dada Records (Portugal/Spain), a powerful piece that calls on African peoples to revisit their history and reclaim agency over their future. The album was performed live at the Rádio Moçambique auditorium in Maputo.
Beyond music, Xkriba is a cultural manager and member of the Youth Sounding Board of the European Union in Mozambique, promoting civic and cultural engagement among youth. Without direct institutional support, he has independently carried out his projects, always with a strong social commitment. Xkriba represents a generation of conscious artists who use the power of words to awaken and transform.
