GENIUS KD
Bio
Genius KD is a Ghanaian Alt-Afro-Fusion artist whose music moves between worlds — rooted in the culture of Mankranso in Ghana's Ashanti Region, yet speaking a language that resonates far beyond borders. Since beginning his professional journey in 2012, he has developed a signature sound that weaves alternative textures, Afrocentric rhythms, and soulful storytelling into a style entirely his own.
His foundation was built in collaboration. From 2013, Genius KD began working with some of Ghana's most respected producers — Rayne, Khendibeatz, KQTHEARTIST, Survivor Beatz, Platinum Producer Jakhan Gravity, and Bla Broda — crafting a sonic palette that is both disciplined and adventurous. His debut hip-hop single Art, featuring Mr. Muffin and produced by Netherlands-based Tantu, announced a creative voice unlike anything in Ghana's underground scene at the time.
Over the years, Genius KD has grown into a genuine collaborator of note. His creative circle includes ARATHEJAY — a rising force in the Afro-Fusion movement — alongside Kojo Cue, Anabel Rose, Blackocee, Yaw Tog, Jay Michael, and Malai, among others. Each collaboration has expanded his range while sharpening his identity as an artist who leads with intention.
2018 marked a defining chapter. The heartfelt single Never Let Go, produced by Rayne, preceded the announcement of his EP Sweat & Prospect — a project built on themes of sacrifice and ambition. That same year, in partnership with Lifestyle Dynasty Management, he released MK Story, a tribute to his hometown of Mankranso that captured the pride of a community in musical form. More recently, Afe Yi (This Year) with Blackocee and the bold release Kountenance with KQTHEARTIST — which appeared on VibrateGhana's Top 10 — have demonstrated an artist growing confidently into his power.
His work has earned recognition on multiple fronts. In May 2021, he was named Artist of the Year at the inaugural Ahafo Ano South Awards. In 2023, his compelling stage presence earned him a coveted spot in Prjct Kumasi's Homesick Concert Series, placing him among Ghana's most culturally significant emerging voices. His music has been featured on radio stations including Garden City Radio, Orange FM, Angel FM, and YFM Kumasi, and his story as an independent artist was published by Labari Journal in their acclaimed series on Ghana's music business.
Now based in Europe and crossing borders across Europe, Genius KD stands at a powerful intersection — carrying the heartbeat of Ghana into one of the world's most dynamic music markets. He is available for live bookings, collaborations, and media features across Africa and Europe.
From Mankranso to the world — the journey has only just begun.
