November 8th – 10th Art as Medicine Exhibition at Kigali Convention Center

  • This visual exhibition will be curated by Maison Beaulier, an international artist platform that showcases art in unusual places.

November 10th Talk with Cynthia Fleury at Kigali Convention Center

  • Cynthia Fleury is a renowned French philosopher and psychotherapist who will be speaking about the importance of humanism in healthcare.

November 10th The She Matters Concert at Camp Kigali

  • The flagship event of the festival will bring together musicians who have used their platforms to advocate for women’s health.  The headliner is legendary Oumou Sangare, Grammy Award Winning Malian Songbird of Wassoulou, she will be joined Shanel Nirere and other local artists. The concert will hosted in partnership with Globe’athon, an organization on a mission to end women’s cancer worldwide. 

November 11th and 12th Art in Health Masterclass at the UGHE offices

  • One of the aspects of Hamwe’s mission is to enable artists, scholars, and global health professionals to collaborate in an effort to improve health around the world. This is the reason why UGHE created this unique masterclass taught jointly by global health leaders and creative with impactful experience in the field. Some of the teachers include award winning filmmaker and MD, Mehret Mandefro, Dr. Paul Animbom Ngong, an expert in therapeutic theatre and Dr. Agnes Binagwaho Vice Chancellor of UGHE to name a few. 

November 12th Hamwe Talks at the Kigali Convention Center

  • Various artists and global health professionals will talk about their experiences in how art can contribute to the SDGs.

November 13th Dance and Global Health Night

  • This evening will showcase how dance has been used as a tool for to resolve physical and mental health issues. The night will feature Dr. Rainbow Ho award winning researcher and dancer from the University of Hong Kong in collaboration with Wesley Ruzibiza, founder of Rwandan-based, Amizero Dance Company.
