Bio

Nneka is a Nigerian soul singer. Born Nneka Lucia Egbuna in 1980, Nneka was born to a Nigerian father and German mother. Raised in the South-south of Nigeria, she relocated to Germany after her secondary school education. There she studied for a degree in Anthropology at the University of Hamburg and chased a career in music.
With influences Fela and Sade Adu, Nneka’s music, a blend of afrobeat, soul and reggae, has received notice outside of her home countries, touring Portugal, France and Italy and appearing on US show Late Night David Letterman.

She has been on tour with Nas and Damian Marley and has taken part in the Lilith Fair concert with such acts as Mary J. Blige and Jill Scott and Corinne Bailey Rae. She
Nneka is also an activist, using her music to channel some of that activism and has co-founded the charity organisation ROPE foundation.

So far Nneka has released five albums, the last, 'My Fairy Tales', was released in 2015 on her own label Bushqueen Music. The album entered both the French and Swiss album charts.
