Ugandan DJ battle gets sponsorship

The annual competition is organised by Trance Events International and will commence later this month. Auditions will take place in Kampala, Mbale, Jinja, Gulu, Masaka and Mbarara. The dates and venues for the audition will be announced soon.

The freestyle DJ battle seeks to identify, mentor and popularise new talent in the country. It was launched in 2006 and aims to professionalise the Ugandan DJ industry

“We have held successful annual Uganda DJ Awards editions in the past, which have seen us steadily progress with time,” Trance Events managing director Anthony Yawe said.

“We believe that by partnering with Fireworks Advertising, which is a top-tier marketing and communication advisory firm, we will accomplish our target of best communicating and appealing to our target audiences.” 

Commenting on the partnership, Fireworks Advertising general manager Frank Muthusi said: “As an agency well known for igniting talent and building great brands over the past 11 years through executing successful campaigns, we envisaged this as an opportunity to come on board towards a positive cause of empowering the talent of DJs and contributing to the overall music and entertainment industry in Uganda.”

Yawe added that Pioneer would provide equipment for the competition.

“This year, Pioneer Corporation has offered their latest turntables on the market to be used by the DJs while competing for the title, giving them a chance to work with one of the world’s most robust Pioneer turntables made so far," he said.
