Shiba Melissa Mazaza


British-Malawian Shiba Melissa Mazaza is a South Africa-based campaigns manager and media strategist working with clients that value new and exciting cultural voices. She's cut her teeth through 2019 in SA's mother city working with management company Black Major, representing artists such as DJ Lag, Blinky Bill, Moonchild Sanelly and Bongeziwe Mabandla, and began a 2020 starting up her own media house, Mount Makeda, with clients such as BBC One actress Masali Baduza, Apple Music's aggregator company Platoon, and Norway's Melahuset, elevating and sculpting the identities of artists on the rise, readying them for the many realms of online content creation. She also enjoys a healthy hands-on career scouting talent for Afropunk, while managing stages and programming festivals such as Design Indaba, Encounters International Film Festival, Cape Town Electronic Music Festival and Littlegig, as well as traveling all over the globe to discover the world's newest sounds at music markets such as Sakifo Reunion, AME Cabo Verde, Oslo World, Lake of Stars Malawi, Acces Ghana and beyond. Simultaneously, she enjoys a successful voice over career, as the current voice of Volkswagen, Kia and Emirates, as well as editorial writing for Mixmag, Red Bull Music, TRUEAfrica, Music In Africa and Okayafrica, while building a non-profit organisation with her father, the African Consciousness Institute, which aims to contribute to the wellbeing of African creatives, with the help of mindfulness, consciousness and spiritual health practices. In 2020, she hopes to continue to work on cultivating unique narratives and fruitful relationships between Africa's creatives and the rest of the globe.
