Call for entries: USA Songwriting Competition 2019
The USA Songwriting Competition is accepting entries from all over the world for its 2019 edition.
Now in its 24th edition, the competition has awarded amateur and professional songwriters, composers, bands and recording artists from Canada, Australia, UK, Japan, Germany, Brazil and Mozambique, among other countries.
Mozambican musician Dino Miranda took second place in the World Music category in 2016 for his song 'Marrabenta'.
The application deadline is 31 May 2019 and the winners will be notified by 15 November 2019.
Participants aged above 18 years old can submit entries in the following categories:
- Pop
- Rock/Alternative
- Country
- R&B
- Gospel/Inspirational
- Folk
- Latin
- Instrumental
- Jazz
- Hip-Hop/Rap
- Children
- World
- Dance/Electronica
- Novelty/Comedy
- Lyrics only
How to apply
To be able to fill the online application form, which can be accessed here, entrants must:
- Read and understand the guidelines.
- Upload MP3 file(s) to either YouTube, Soundcloud or ReverbNation
- Pay $35 for every song submitted.
Prizes
Successful applicants will be rewarded in the following ways:
- The overall grand prize winner will receive merchandise, services and $50 000.
- The second prize winner will receive $9 000 worth of merchandise
- The third prize winner will receive $6 500 worth of merchandise.
- The first prize winners in each of the 15 categories will each receive $2 200 worth of merchandise.
- 20 honourable mention winners will each receive $350 worth of merchandise.
