Okmalumkoolkat

Okmalumkoolkat (aka Simiso Zwane) is a prominent young rapper, producer and DJ. He grew up in Durban and later moved to Johannesburg. He started his rapping career at the age of 24 after hearing DJ Shadow’s seminal debut album 'Endtroducing' and drew lyrical influence from prominent hip-hop pioneers like Madlib and MF Doom. He first emerged as part of the duo Dirty Paraffin before launching a solo career as Okmalumkoolkat. In 2014 he signed to Austrian label Affine Records and released his debut EP 'Holy Oxygen' with a European tour. With a unique sense of lyricism and style, he is also a frequent collaborator with a host of other artists, including Spoek Mathambo and the collective Boyz n Bucks.
