Diana Hopeson

Bio

Diana Hopeson aka Diana Akiwumi is a Ghanaian recording and Performing Artiste with nine (9) albums including “If Jesus says yes”, “Ebesimeyie”, “Yeyi w’aye daa”, “Africa America” and “Koso Aba”. Her biggest hit was in 1993 with the song ‘Winner” which won her an ECRAG Award and she was interviewed on BBC. Her music was recommended for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Network. Diana has travelled extensively as an Artiste, Performing with her band in several concerts including Panafest (Several times in Ghana), Afro Music Festival and MASA in La Cote D’voire, Togo, Nigeria and Anton Philipszaal in The Hague. Diana has represented Ghana at several conferences including the World Music Conference in Tallin, Estonia in 2011 to speak on Music and Poverty Reduction.

Diana is a member of the Ghana Music Award Board and has served on several National Boards and Committees including the National Theatre, Copyright Owners Society of Ghana (COSGA) and the National Intellectual Property Policy Committee. She is the immediate Past President of the Musicians Union of Ghana, (MUSIGA).

Mrs. Hopeson is a graduate of the Christian Leaders Institute, University of Ghana’s School of Performing Arts, Youth with a Mission (YWAM)’s College of Arts and Spots of the University of the Nations (UofN), Kona, Hawaii and the University of Education, Winneba. As a LausanneARTs Catalyst at Large, her Mission is to help enlighten church leaders to embrace artistic Christians for ministries in the church, Individualism, and in broader world mission.

At the moment, she leads her band in Accra, Ghana in mostly Songs of Worship and Praise in African style.
