Rugged Man

Real name Ugochukwu Micheal Stephens, he started his musical career as a student of Political Science at the Lagos State University in 1989.

Alongside friends like Lexie Doo, he fashioned out a unique style that fused Yoruba and Pidgin English, with Rap flow. Articulate and razor-sharp, his humourous lines, performed at live shows in his student days and afterwards, won him instant fame in the Nigerian music scene.

His first album "Thy Album Come" was released in 2004 and featured a number of tracks which took fearless but light-hearted jibes at a number of industry figures, this only endeared him to his fan-base the more.

His follow-on albums "Ruggedy Baba" - 2007 and "Untouchable"- 2010, further cemented his place in the annals of Nigerian popular music history, as one of its master lyricists. He has performed alongside international acts like Sean Paul, Wyclef Jean, Akon and many more.
