Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus School of Jazz Music (EECMY)

The Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus School of Jazz Music is an Ethiopian music school engaged in producing prominent and professional musicians. The school was founded in 2001 by the church itself.

The program awards Bachelor of Arts Degree in Contemporary Jazz Music and is designed to equip candidates with advanced musical skills in modern instruments, Ethiopian traditional instruments and live recording technology. The program also prepares candidates to become professional musicians in and out of the church environment through integrated biblical courses which are uniquely designed for the Christian church today with highly qualified professional musicians and professors from all over the world.

The program admits every year to train in the major music instrument areas of Piano, Lead Guitar, Bass Guitar, Saxophone, Drums, Trumpets and Vocal. Additionally, they give courses on Ethiopian traditional instruments mainly Massenko, Kerar, Washent and Begena.
